Coeur d'Alene lake steaming in the cold temperatures

3 Degrees

One of the odd things about photography is that the best shots seem to come from when the weather is at its worst. When the forecast said it was going to be clear a day or so after we had some fresh snow I knew I was going to be out taking photos for awhile. Even if it were bitterly cold.

The cold weather did make it a little difficult. Walking to the locations for each shot was not too tough, but taking the camera out, changing lenses and focusing the camera was actually quite tough. Not more than 10 minutes into shooting and your face no longer moves because it is frozen solid.

But the upside is when it is that cold lake Coeur d’Alene will steam. Seeing an entire lake steam like that is really interesting. So, even though it was miserable to be in, the weather did make for some pretty cool images. (Pun intended).

Photography is not only a passion of mine, it is a mission. I strive to capture the images that move me the most. Images that glorify the creator God. As a result, the subjects of my photos vary from time to time. I hope that the photos you see here help you in some way. I know they help me daily. God bless.
